In Memoriam: Dr. Paul W. BoltzGo Back
The Department of Economics’ family at the University of Illinois is deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of our distinguished alumni, Dr. Paul Boltz on February 2, 2015.
Before attending the University of Maryland for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Boltz served in the Army at the National Security Agency during the Vietnam War. He received his Master’s in Economics in 1971 and his Ph.D. in Economics in 1974 both from the University of Illinois. Following his education, Paul worked for the Council of Economic Advisors, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the Continental Illinois National Bank in Chicago, and ended his career as vice president and chief economist with T. Rowe Price Associates in Baltimore.
Over the years he has helped to contribute to the growth of the Economics Department by serving on both the Business Advisory Council and the Economics Development Council and by sponsoring the Paul W. Boltz Fellowship Fund to “attract, motivate, and reward graduate students in economics who show exceptional promise for careers in academia or business. " Dr. Boltz was also a presenter at the 100th anniversary of the Department of Economics seminar.
More about the life and career of Dr. Boltz is found in the obituary from the Naples Daily News attached here.
